Chateau Chasse-Spleen Moulis en Médoc 2001 Superb nose with an intoxicating mix of spices and dark fruit. The mouth is just as good, more red-fruited and with a backbone of refreshing acidity; resolved tannins but good grip nevertheless. Pretty good length. Not opulent in any way, and the oak is well integrated.
Chateau Beauregard Pomerol 2001 Mature Pomerol with much vibrant life left. It being from a magnum only adds to the impressive forecast. Earthy notes with farmyard and tertiary signs of leather and licorice. Quite drying palate with no flaws but surprisingly fruity finish.
Château Haut-Bages Libéral Paulliac 2001 Roasted bell pepper pairs to ethereal thyme and dried tobacco leaves. Sour cherry and peppermint come to the nose as well. Pretty smooth, yet present tannins at the palate and quite good acidity. I love the dusty minerality of this wine. I like this freshness and young flavours. Sour cherry and minty finish again.
Château Malescot St. Exupery Margaux 2001 A great Margaux. Intence with dark berries and spicy with hints of espresso and tobacco. Silky and fine tannins with ripe berries on the palate. A full-bodied-wine with a very long and deep finish.
